Alkaline electrolyzer plays a pivotal role in advancing the development of renewable energy. Increasing temperature can effectively reduce hydrogen production energy consumption; however
localized overheating caused by uneven temperature distribution threatens the operational safety of alkaline electrolyzer. Therefore
this paper establishes a model of an alkaline electrolyzer incorporating multiple cells
proposes a parameter transfer strategy to reduce computational complexity
and summarizes the temperature distribution characteristics of alkaline electrolyzer. Based on the quantitative metrics
the effects of operating parameters and geometric structures on temperature distribution are analyzed. Finally
research on capacity expansion strategies for industrial alkaline electrolyzers is conducted. Results indicate that operating parameters including inlet temperature
inlet flow velocity
and current density significantly influence temperature distribution. Increasing the number of cells leads to a rise in temperature in the central cells
while expanding electrode area improves temperature distribution uniformity. Excessively low cell-to-electrode-area ratio increases the maximum temperature
whereas excessively high cell-to-electrode-area ratio causes temperature distribution distortion. The research findings provide reference for ensuring safety and capacity expansion of alkaline electrolyzer.
