Review on Degradation and Recycling Strategies for Waste Solid Electrical Epoxy Resins and Their Composites
As a thermosetting material widely used in the power industry
epoxy resin poses significant challenges for degradation and recycling due to its insolubility and infusibility. Traditional disposal methods
such as landfilling and incineration
not only pollute the environment but also result in resource wastage. Furthermore
most raw materials for epoxy resin are derived from petrochemical refining
exacerbating resource scarcity issues. Therefore
to achieve the degradation and recycling of epoxy resin and alleviate environmental pressure
this paper reviews the current status of degradation and recycling of electrical epoxy resins and their composites (anhydride-cured epoxy resin systems) both domestically and internationally through literature research. Furthermore
this paper provides an in-depth analysis of the degradation and recycling technologies for waste solid epoxy resins. Both physical and chemical recycling methods are summarized
in which the chemical recycling method is further divided into non-selective and selective approaches. Moreover
this paper discusses the advantages and disadvantages of each method and offers an outlook on the development trends in the degradation and recycling of waste solid resins. This review aims to provide a reference for achieving full recycling of epoxy resin composites.
