Coordinated Operation of Multi-hydrogen System and Hydrogen-blended Natural Gas Pipeline Network Based on Green Hydrogen Portfolio Standard
This paper investigates the coordinated operation of the multi-hydrogen system and the hydrogen-blended natural gas pipeline network
balancing economic efficiency
carbon reduction benefits
and operational safety. A green hydrogen portfolio standard is proposed
which is linked to the renewable electricity supply potential at the source side. This standard includes a method for disaggregating annual quota target
calculation rules for actual green hydrogen consumption and green hydrogen certificate issuance. It guides the hydrogen-blended natural gas pipeline network in meeting green hydrogen consumption obligations
thereby promoting renewable energy utilization and supporting the development of the hydrogen industry. The upper-layer model maximizes the economic benefits of the multi-hydrogen system while promoting renewable energy consumption
where off-grid wind power and grid electricity jointly support hydrogen production. Although each hydrogen system independently conducts hydrogen production
storage
and supply processes
a unifying aggregation standard is adopted. Through this standard
the hydrogen system aggregator centrally optimizes electricity procurement
green hydrogen production
and hydrogen storage strategies. The lower-layer model minimizes the gas procurement cost of the hydrogen-blended natural gas pipeline network. A flow-direction-based iterative mechanism is proposed for dynamically updating hydrogen-blended ratio and heat value
considering gas quality
dynamic blending constraints
and network safety requirements. To protect data privacy among multiple operators
the alternating direction method of multipliers is introduced for distributed solving. Finally
a case study on an industrial park comprising a multi-hydrogen system aggregator and a 20-node hydrogen-blended natural gas pipeline network within an industrial park to verify the rationality of the proposed model and the feasibility of the solution approach.
