Transient Overvoltage Suppression in Utility-scale Renewable Energy DC Collection-delivery System: Active Current Regulation Strategy for Power Surplus Distribution Control
To suppress the transient overvoltage in the utility-scale renewable energy DC collection-delivery system during AC bus short-circuit fault process at the receiving end
this paper investigated the imbalance mechanism of power surplus distribution and DC overvoltage severity between the DC collection subsystem (formed by the low-voltage side of the DC/DC converter station and the DC collection network) and the DC delivery subsystem (formed by the high-voltage side of the DC/DC converter station and the DC transmission network). Subsequently
based on the DC transient voltage characteristics between the low-voltage and high-voltage sides of the DC/DC converter station
an active current regulation method based on DC voltage deviation was proposed. In this method
the DC voltage imbalance is transformed into active current reference values
and the system's power surplus distribution is reconstructed by adjusting the active current
thereby effectively mitigating overvoltage. Based on PSCAD/EMTDC
a model of a utility-scale renewable energy DC collection-delivery system was built
and simulations were conducted to analyze the system's surplus power and transient overvoltage imbalance characteristics
its dynamic performance after the proposed control strategy was activated
and its coordinated operation with surge arresters and power reduction control methods. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy in suppressing DC transient overvoltage
confirming its feasibility for practical engineering applications.
