Stability Analysis of Power Systems With Integration of Differential Speed Regulating Wind Farm
To address challenges posed by high-proportion wind power integration to the stable operation of power systems
a novel transmission scheme of grid-connected wind turbine (WT) based on differential speed regulation is proposed in this paper. This solution can effectively enhance the operational performance of WTs and the stability of power systems with integrated wind power generators. Combined with backstepping sliding mode control and an extended state observer
an excitation control strategy with multiple control variables is designed for the synchronous generator (SG) applicable to the proposed WT
aiming to achieve flexible regulation of both output power and voltage in on-grid wind farms with differential speed regulation. Moreover
to validate the on-grid operational characteristics of the proposed WT
a comprehensive evaluation model for power system stability is developed
enabling the quantitative characterization of systems’ stability with differential speed regulating wind farms. Finally
a dedicated simulation model for WT based on differential speed regulation is developed. After validating the principles of this simulation model using an experimental platform
an IEEE 5-machine 14-node power system simulation model integrating differential speed regulating wind farms is also established. This enables an in-depth analysis of the multi-scenario stability characteristics of the power system under the integration of wind farms. The results demonstrate that compared to conventional WTs
the proposed WT exhibits superior harmonic suppression capabilities. Wind farms composed of such units can also effectively enhance the dynamic response capability of the power system and maintain a more stable on-grid performance under diverse operating conditions.
