Power Control Mechanism and Excitation Control Strategy Design for a Dual-excited Synchronous Condenser With Damping Windings
The distinctive dual-winding excitation structure of dual-excited synchronous condensers endows them with notable theoretical advantages in system inertia support and deep leading-phase operation capability. This paper proposes a novel power control strategy through analyzing the influence mechanisms of damper windings on power regulation in dual-axis excitation machines. Initially
by establishing a dynamic mathematical model of dual-excited machines
the nonlinear coupling mechanisms between damper windings and d-q axis power control under asynchronous operating conditions are elucidated. Subsequently
a power support control strategy integrating damper winding effects is developed through introducing vector control theory into dual-excited condenser control
with explicit consideration of coupling terms. Simulation verification demonstrates that the proposed control strategy effectively achieves precise power regulation in the machine. The research findings hold significant implications for enhancing the inertia support capability of dual-excited synchronous condensers.
