Carbon Emission Reduction Calculation Approach for Ammonia Coal Mixed Combustion Based on CCER Rules and Analysis of Development Prospects
The mixed combustion of coal and green ammonia for power generation is one of the effective ways to reduce carbon emissions from coal-fired power plants. But the hydrogen energy industry has not yet formed a unified understanding of scientifically determining the carbon reduction benefits of green ammonia cofiring and incorporating them into the carbon trading market to achieve benefit transmission. Firstly
based on the baseline method of China certified emission reduction (CCER) methodology
a calculation model was constructed for carbon emissions reduction of ammonia coal mixed combustion for the first time
and the main influencing factors and development trends of project emission reductions were clarified. Then
taking actual projects as examples
the carbon emission reductions of each ammoniacoal mixed combustion project were quantified. Finally
an in-depth research was conducted on the determining factors of emission reduction benefits and the development prospects of the projects. The study provides a scientific method for determining the carbon emission reduction
economic benefits of emission reduction
and optimizing site selection for ammoniacoal mixed combustion projects. The conclusion indicates that the combined marginal emission factor of regional power grid and coal consumption rate are not only the decisive factor for whether these projects can achieve emission reduction benefits
but also the main factor in determining the critical ammonia blending ratio. Based on the current level of emission factors and ammoniacoal mixed combustion power generation
the projects can be prioritized for low coal consumption units located in the northwest
