Thermal Performance Analyses for a Coal-fired Power Generation Unit Coupled With High Temperature Particle Energy Storage for Deep Peak Shaving
Deep peak shaving of coal-fired power generation unit is a crucial approach to enhance renewable energy integration and ensuring grid safety. Coupling with energy storage systems can effectively improve their operational flexibility. Based on the stable thermal storage characteristics of solid particles at high temperatures
this paper proposes a deep peak shaving system for coal-fired units coupled with fluidized bed electric heating heat storage technology. An Ebsilon deep peak shaving model for a 600 MW thermal power unit coupled with a high-temperature particle thermal storage system is established. Through comparative analysis
the optimal heat release scheme is selected
and the influence of storage temperature on the performance of the coupled system and exergy loss distribution are analyzed. Simulation results show that increasing the thermal storage temperature of the fluidized bed system not only achieves higher energy density but also significantly enhances the equivalent round-trip efficiency and cycle exergy efficiency of the heat storage and release cycle. At a storage temperature of 950℃
these values reach 32.1% and 37.5%
respectively. The exergy losses in the boiler
steam turbine
and regenerative system are barely affected by the heat storage temperature.
