Performance Analysis of New CCHP System With Organic Rankine Cycle Driven by Solar Thermal Energy
Abstract
To improve the cascade utilization efficiency of solar energy
this study proposes three solar-thermal-driven combined cooling
heating and power (CCHP) systems based on different thermodynamic cycle configurations including subcritical organic Rankine cycle (ORC)
supercritical- subcritical ORC
and reheat supercritical-subcritical ORC. The system performance analysis model is established using Aspen Plus software. Different CCHP systems are compared in terms of thermal performance
and the effects of key parameters on the optimal system’s performance are analyzed. The results show that compared with the other two systems
the CCHP system integrated with the reheat supercritical-subcritical organic Rankine cycle (RSSORC-CCHP) has the best thermal performance
with power generation efficiency improvements of 25.55% and 3.4%
and exergy efficiency enhancements of 20.42% and 3.6%
respectively. These improvements are mainly attributed to the excellent heat source matching capability of the supercritical ORC and the reduced irreversibility during the reheat process. Sensitivity analysis results of the RSSORC-CCHP system show that the RSSORC- CCHP system achieves optimal net power output and power generation efficiency when the inlet temperature and outlet pressure of the first-stage turbine are 380℃ and 1 MPa
respectively
and the heat absorption ratio of the S-ORC to ORC is 2.3. Furthermore
with the change of direct normal irradiance (DNI) of solar energy
the power
cooling
and heating outputs of the RSSORC-CCHP system first increase and then decrease. The achievements of this study provide new insights and approaches for the more efficient utilization of solar energy.
