Numerical Simulation of Repetitively Nanosecond Pulsed Streamer Discharge: Species Competition Mechanism
repetitively nanosecond pulsed discharge has shown potential application prospects in medical sterilization and environmental protection. Although the discharge characteristics and performance under repetitively nanosecond pulsed excitation have been widely studied
the mechanism of influence of residual particles on subsequent pulse discharge remains to be further clarified. Therefore
a one-dimensional numerical model of repetitively nanosecond pulsed discharge is developed in this paper
and the evolution of species population density and the ability of DC voltage to clean space charge are studied by means of pulsed repetition rate analysis and superposition of DC voltage. The results show that the residual electrons can be used as seed electrons to accelerate and induce new ionization after the preceding pulsed discharge under the action of the subsequent pulsed electric field
which promotes the development of discharge. Because the residual positive ions are of the same polarity as the pulsed voltage
the spatial electric field is weakened and the subsequent discharge is inhibited. The combination of negative ions and positive ions will weaken the inhibition effect
and release electrons through the deattachment reaction
which can increase the number of seed electrons and promote discharge. The promotion effect of the residual electron embodiment and the inhibition effect of the residual positive ion embodiment in space will form a competitive relationship
affecting the discharge characteristics. The method of superimposing DC voltage can be used to sweep the residual charge in the space to reduce the inhibitory effect.
