Hierarchical Cluster Control of Large-scale Distributed PV Inverters for Coordinated Frequency-voltage Support
The large-scale integration of distributed photovoltaics (DPVs) threats power system frequency and distribution voltage security. This paper proposes a hierarchical cluster coordination control approach for DPVs to facilitate local voltage regulation and global frequency control. Considering the couplings between distribution voltage regulation and frequency control
DPVs are clustered based on the non-negative matrix factorization technique. Then
this paper establishes a control parameter optimization model in the global optimization level to tune the voltage and frequency droop control curves of DPVs
where inter-cluster coordination is achieved via the alternating direction method of multipliers. To further alleviate fast voltage violations
this paper develops a voltage sensitivity-based voltage correction control strategy in the regional coordination level to modify the reactive power setpoints of DPVs’ voltage droop curves. In the local control level
autonomous frequency and voltage support is provided by DPVs based on the optimally tuned droop control curves. Simulations and comparative analyses verify the effectiveness of the proposed method in frequency and voltage support.
