Stability Comparison and Stabilization Control of the PMSG-based Direct-driven Wind Turbine Under Different Types of Grid-forming Control
Grid-forming direct-driven wind turbines can be mainly divided into active power control type and DC voltage control type. At present
there is a lack of comparative analysis about the stability of the two types of grid-forming wind turbines. In response to these above issues
a small-disturbance stability margin quantification method for grid-forming direct-driven wind turbines considering the DC-link interaction is proposed in this paper. Based on the amplitude phase frequency characteristics
the small-disturbance interaction mechanism between the machine-side and grid-side converters of grid-forming direct-driven wind turbines is revealed. The research results indicate that the grid-forming grid-side converter under active power control mode exhibits negative resistance characteristics on the DC side
which can easily interact abnormally with the machine-side converter and cause instability. There is no DC-side interactive unstable issues in the grid-forming direct-driven wind turbine under DC voltage control mode. On this basis
a stabilization control method is proposed
which effectively enhances the stability of grid- forming wind turbines under active power control mode. Finally
grounded on the PSCAD/EMTDC platform
the correctness of the theoretical analysis and the effectiveness of the proposed stabilization control method are verified.
