Integrated State-power Control Method of Shipboard Energy Storage Systems
Large-scale shipboard energy storage systems (ESSs) integration can effectively improve the operating flexibility of all-electric ships (AESs) to mitigate irregular power fluctuations
but uncertain operating conditions such as shipboard swaying may protrude their state coupling characteristics
thereby affecting their power supply capability and exacerbating power mismatches. To address this issue
this paper proposes an integrated state-power control of shipboard ESSs. First
based on the battery test experiment of six months
considering frequent swaying conditions
this paper explores a state coupling model to establish a strong relationship between internal electrochemistry and external electrodynamics
thereby capturing the power control characteristics of the battery. Then
the proposed battery model is integrated into a real-time control loop
which can deal with the power fluctuations of multiple navigation conditions. Finally
the proposed method is proven in a laboratory-scale experimental system. Compared with the conventional methods
the voltage sag and the power mismatch can be reduced by 32.14% and 90.1% at most
respectively
and the battery can always operate within a healthy power range.
