Dynamic Response of a Bio-inspired Semi-submersible Floating Offshore Wind Turbine Platform Based on Leaf Vein Branch Structure
Inspired by the hydrodynamic characteristics of the Victoria Amazonica
a novel semi-submersible platform with a leaf-vein branching structure is proposed to improve the stability of floating offshore wind turbines under extreme sea conditions. Based on computational fluid dynamics combined with a dynamic fluid-body interaction model
the effects of different branch levels on the dynamic responses of the bionic platform are analyzed. The results show that the enhancement of hydrodynamic performance by the bionic structure increases with the branch level; the platform exhibits optimal stability at a branch level of 8
with the pitch standard deviation reduced by 30.83% compared with the original platform. Dense vortex formation within the branching structure effectively enhances system energy dissipation
with the mean rotational energy of the 8-level branching structure decreased by 50.97% relative to the original platform. The bionic leaf-vein structure proposed in this study offers a significant improvement in the overall stability of the platform.
