Model Predictive Control for a Wind-wave-ES System in Island Microgrid Frequency Regulation
To address the limitation of frequency support capability of single energy sources in complex operating environments
a model predictive control strategy considering coordinated wind-wave-energy storage (WWE) in frequency regulation is proposed. The strategy leverages the complementarity of WWE by controlling the hydraulic motor openings and the droop coefficient to achieve the coordinated active response
which optimizes the system dynamic frequency performance. A frequency-motor opening-droop coefficient state space model is firstly established
and a cost function and an adaptive weight function considering frequency fluctuations and power allocation are designed. Additionally
a microgrid frequency predictive control strategy considering multiple control objectives is proposed for rapid response and balanced power allocation. Finally
a typical WWE island microgrid system on the RT-LAB experimental platform is established. Results show that the scheme achieves adaptive coordinated frequency regulation of WWE through its complementary response and support capacities
improving the stability and resilience of island microgrids under extreme conditions.
