    • Preparation of Activated Carbon by Steam Activation of Forming Gasification Fine Ash

    • Gasification fly ash is a solid waste generated during the gasification process of circulating fluidized bed coal. Given the well-developed pore structure and high carbon content of gasification fly ash, this article conducts research on the activation of gasification fly ash to prepare activated carbon, in order to achieve high-value utilization of this type of residual carbon. Using physical molding, the powdered gasification fly ash is shaped into cylindrical particles, and a series of water vapor physical activation experiments are conducted based on a vertical furnace. On this basis, based on the mobile bed small test platform, activation experiments were carried out on the kilogram scale of gasification fly ash formed particles. The results showed that the activation effect of formed gasification fly ash was optimal at 1000 ℃ and a carbon conversion rate of 45%, with a specific surface area (SBET) of 813.5 m ²/g. After activation by a moving bed, the formed particles of gasification fly ash were effectively activated, and the methylene blue value, specific surface area (SBET), and iodine value (I) of the prepared activated carbon were as high as 151 mg/g, 632 m ²/g, and 883 mg/g. Moreover, the concentration of combustible components in the exhaust gas generated during the activation process of the moving bed is higher than 85%, and the calorific value is as high as 2776 kcal/m ³. This study preliminarily verifies the feasibility of preparing activated carbon from circulating fluidized bed gasification fly ash, providing theoretical guidance for achieving high-value utilization of this type of fly ash and further large-scale application of gasification fly ash to prepare activated carbon.
