Abstract

For transmission lines

the rate of lightning striking against poles directly affects the calculation of lightning trip-out rate.The former has not only relations to topographic features

height and structure of poles or towers but also to amplitude and probability of lightning-current. According to the rate recommended by the"code"

the mean rate of lightning striking against poles of transmission lines is discussed with an electrogeometric model.
