With the rapid increase of peak adjustment demand of power grid
more and more demands are made on the flexibility and peak adjustment capacity of thermal power units. Taking two thermal power units in a power plant in Hunan province as examples(a 300 MW subcritical unit
a 600 MW supercritical unit)
this paper analyzes the operating economy of the depth peak adjustment of thermal power units and summarizes the relevant risk response measures. The operating costs of thermal power units will increase significantly when the peak load rate is adjusted at a depth of 30% to 50%. Under the current subsidy policy
the peak operation of thermal power units is generally in a state of loss.
