Abstract

The cracks were found repeatedly in the weld area between the rotor center part and the magnetic poles wire support block of a bulb type tubular turbine unit. The cracks germinated in the weld area

extended to rotor center part under a action of alternating load

because of existing stress concentration severely in the root of rotor arm and poor welding quality. The paper introduces the crack situation

analyzes the causes and puts forward the treatment measures and the corresponding welding process.
