A masonry double-curvature arch dam in eastern China is taken as study object
considering the effect of freeze-thaw cycles on mortar deterioration
the finite element model of the arch dam is es ⁃ tablished by using ABAQUS
and the impact of mortar deterioration on the seismic safety is analyzed. The calculation results show that the deformation and stress of the dam body under seismic condition still meet the specification requirements under current deterioration degree. However
with the continu ⁃ ous increase of operation time
the displacement component and the maximum tensile stress of dam body will continue to increase
and there is a risk of tensile damage. The junction between dam abutment and mountains on both banks is the weakest part
which should be taken seriously in the seismic design of dam. The study results can provide reference for seismic safety analysis of similar projects.
