Argillaceous soft rock is a special rock; the design of anti-slide pile in argillaceous soft rock is difficult because some design parameters are unknown. Through the laboratory horizontal static load test for large undisturbed samples and the numerical simulation calculation
the proportional coefficient m of ground horizontal resistance coefficient needed in the design of anti-slide pile for argillaceous soft rock is studied. This paper gives reference values of the proportional coefficient m; and discusses the factors affecting m of argillaceous soft rock. It is concluded as follows. The m value scope of the tertiary mudstone (argillaceous soft rock)of Nanning basin in Guangxi region
to China is 17-35 MN/m4; if pile diameter is larger
then to take a small value of m; if the buried depth is greater
then to take a larger value of m. The m values obtained by laboratory horizontal static load test and the numerical simulation calculation are very close
so as to provide reference for m value calculation in future. The factors affecting m
