Because of the particularity of size composition and sedimentary texture of glacial till
reliable parameters of strength and deformation aren't obtained by both laboratory test and in situ test. As a result
it is a difficult problem to choose proper strength parameters in engineering design and evaluation of glacial till all the time. Cellular automation method is adopted to simulate structure of glacial till and construct large-scale emulational trier. Afterward
triaxial numerical simulation tests are carried out on the emulational triers by using FLAC3D; and parameters of strength and deformation of glacial till are obtained based on mechanical formulas of general triaxial test. Thus a new method of strength test of rock mass and soil mass is presented; and a useful attempt to establish virtual geotechnical lab is made.
