Finite element simulation of excavation and support of abutment slope at Dagangshan Hydropower Project
The abutment slope at Dagangshan Hydropower Project has complex geological conditions with faults
dikes
unloading crack intensive belt
deep unloading belt and developed joint fissures. In order to analyse the stress and deformation of the slope during the slope excavation and support
3D elastoplastic finite element simulation is performed with elastoplastic finite element method by the elasto-viscoplastic finite element software EVP3D
the possible failure location of the slope can be revealed
and the effectiveness of a suggested construction procedure can be evaluated. A suggestion for the supporting scheme is proposed.
