Using rock-fill dam’ adaptable predominance over topographical condition
a concrete-face rockfill dam (CFRD) designed to build on the strip dorsum is filled fitting the natural side; and it makes the original massif be parts of the dam body; thus a fairly rare CFRD was achieved
which is called fitting-slope CFRD. The widespread Duncan-Chang E-B model is applied to analyze simulatively the stress and deformation of one fitting-slope CFRD for construction and operation periods respectively by using User Subroutine of ABAQUS. The result indicates that the fitting-slope CFRD differs from ordinary CFRD in deformation; the fitting-slope CFRD shows small settlement and horizontal displacement and deformation of concrete face
which is affected by ledge excavation; convex angle of plane of foundation of echelonment exists obviousl stress concentration
where the stress level are high. The result of calculation can supply rational advices and effective measures for optimizing design.
