Numerical simulation of cavity formation process by single helix parallel hole cut blasting
Process of cavity formation and propagation of the stress wave from single helix parallel hole cut blasting are analyzed with ANSYS/LS-DYNA 3D nonlinear dynamic finite element software. The distribution of element Misc. plastic strain
node Misc. velocity
node time-acceleration history curve and the sketch of the blasting cartridge’s volume ratio during the process are simulated. It is concluded that the process of the blasting wave between theory and simulation is similar and the simulated blasting wave radiating in the form of cylinder . Moreover
the final blasting result has related with the distance from the hole to the bomber; therefore the cavity formation and stress propagation can be visualized. It is expected that the result of the study may provide a positive help to blast design optimization of parallel hole cut blasting.
