Simple shear tests for the soil-soil interface are conducted;and numerical simulation is performed to model the testing process. The different interface constitutive models
such as rigid-plastic
elastoplastic and Clough-Duncan nonlinear elastic models
are used in the numerical analysis; and the failure mode of interfaces is investigated. The calculation results agree well with the test results; and it is shown that the rigid-plastic model is suitable to describe the soil-soil interface.
