Through analyzing the propagation process of stress wave in the vertical direction at the joint
the expression of a series of echoes generated at the joint are achieved; then the combined vibration at the initial wave source is determined; finally a inverse model to detect the joint’s characters based on signal process of the vibration is given. Utilizing this inverse model we can detect the joint’s location
characteristic impendence
quality factor and the ratio of its width to its velocity for stress wave; furthermore
the characteristic impendence of the rock located at the other side of the joint can also be detected. This conclusion would absolutely enhance the application of stress wave in detecting jointed rock masses.
