Consolidated undrained triaxial shear tests were conducted to investigate the behaviors of cement solidified dredged material (DM); the failure type and shear strength parameters were studied. Test results show that the stress-strain curves change from ideal elastoplasticity to strain softening with cement content increase. When cement content is 50 kg/m3
the stress-strain curves have three types with cell pressure increasing
namely
perfect elastoplasticity type
strain softening type and strain hardening type. When cement content is higher than 100 kg/m3
all the samples present brittle property. When DM is treated by cement
it becomes a kind of structured soil. When cell pressure is lower than sample structural strength
it has little influence on the compressive strength. The effective cohesion increases much with increase of cement content
while effective internal friction angle lies between 32 and 43 degree
indicating that the effect of cement solidification acts mainly on the bonding force among soil particles
