Man has known the wetting deformation of core wall type rockfill dam and paid emphasis on it. However

the wetting deformation of CFRD concrete face rockfill dam is neglected for its water retaining by the upstream face slab. It will bring obvious wetting deformation and affect the face slab’s working condition for the dam body which was filled by the rockfill materials whose wetting deformation are rather large. The computation methods of wetting deformation are proposed to analyse its effects on the stress and deformation of dam body and concrete face slab by FEM based on the wetting deformation experiments of rockfill materials in Tankeng Hydroelectric Station.
