In order avoid the occurrence of ‘rubbery soil ’ in soft clay during the construction of dynamic consolidation method ( DCM). An innovative idea of using well dewatering technique to accelerate the dissipation of excess pore pressure and the consolidation of soft soil and to improve the efficiency of dynamic consolidation has been proposed. the in-situ test has been studied to verify the effectiveness of treating the soft clay underlying hydraulic fill sand by DCM combined with well dewatering on a container terminal in Shanghai; and soil deformation. pore pressure. time effect of soft clay strength have also been analysized and discussed. The successful achievement of the filed test and the large-area application show the feasibility of DCM combined with well dewatering in the treatment of soft soil and enriched the contents of the DCM and well dewatering technoloty; and also further broaden the application range of DCM and well dewatering. All the relults in the test are referential to some other similar projects.
