Investigation and analysis on measured stress in the heel of super high arch dams
摘要
Abstract
The measured stress in the heel of arch dam is an important basis for evaluating the stress state during operation
which is usually monitored by compressive stress gauges and strain gauges. This paper investigates the measured stress in the heel of super high arch dams in China and summarizes the measured stress level and its variation laws during operation. The results indicate that the measured val ⁃ ues of vertical compressive stress in the heel of super high arch dams during operation is large
which differs greatly from the design calculation values
while both of them are affected by the upstream water pressure in the same way. After analysis
the main reasons for the difference between measured values and design calculation values are the difference between assumed and actual conditions
the different monitoring and calculation sites
the error in measured stress calculation and obvious stress on stress- free gauges. Moreover
in the cracked state of dam heel
the compressive stress gauges and the strain gauges both have limitation in monitoring the dam heel stress and cannot truly reflect the tensile stress. It is recommended that the monitoring results such as deformation of dam heel
seepage pressure of dam foundation
leakage volume and measured stress should be analyzed comprehensively when evaluating the operational status of the arch dam heel.
