Experiment on relationship between turbine oil oxidation and varnish formation
The varnish formed by turbine oil oxidation has seriously threatened normal operation of the generator
it is necessary to establish a suitable detection system for the varnish formation. In this paper
Dry-TOST oxidation text was conducted on six different types of turbine oil. The varnish propensity score(MPC)
acid value
oxidation stability(RPVOT life) and consumption rate of antioxidant were detected in the Dry-TOST test process. The trend and correlation between the results were analyzed. The results show that
with the oxidation of oil
the varnish gradually generates in the oil. Oxidation plays a key role in the varnish formation. The acid value and consumption rate of diphenylamines are not closely correlated with the MPC. However
the MPC is associated with the RPVOT residual ratio and the consumption rate of T531. 30% T531 consumption can be used as a warning line for the oil utilization. During the varnish detection
the MPC should be regarded as the major basis. To give more information
the RPVOT residual ratio and consumption rate of the T531 can be used as a reference.
