3D numerical simulation of particles collection in a high-temperature wire-cylinder electrostatic precipitator
In order to investigate the particle tracing and trapping process in a high-temperature wire-cylinder electrostatic precipitator(ESP)
a 3D numerical model was established for the particle dynamic field and particle collection. Moreover
numerical simulation was performed by using the commercial CFD Fluent software. The results show that
the simulated dust collection efficiency and particles behaviour agree well with the experimental results. Increasing the port voltage(Up) is an effective way to boost the collection efficiency. The height of particle deposition increased rapidly with the decreasing particle diameter
which makes the particles escape more easily. When the temperature approaches 620 ℃ and the port voltage reaches 17310 V
the collection efficiency of particles larger than 6 μm achieves almost 100% while that of the submicron particles(0.1~1.0 μm) only reaches 40%. The initial position of particles entering the dust removal space affects the particles' trajectory greatly
for example
particles with diameter of 10 μm will deposit at a low height in a comparatively short time if they enter the ESP nearby the anode tube.
