Configuration optimization for a large-scale dry-cooling tower
The investment cost of natural draft dry cooling tower is a major component of the total investment of a large-scale air-cooled power plant. On the premise of satisfying the requirement of heat dissipation load of the unit cold end
configuration optimization for the dry-cooling tower can decrease the total investment cost of an indirect dry cooling system effectively. Taking a typical dry-cooling tower of 600 MW in-direct air-cooled unit as the research object
considering the size effects
the correlation between tower losses and the windward velocity was presented
the suction effect caused by the air density difference at inlet and outlet of the air-cooled heat exchanger and the balance of pressure difference between the outside and the inside of the cooling tower were also considered. On this basis
the dynamic equations and heat transfer equations for the indirect air-cooling tower were established. An optimized mathematical model for the indirect air-cooled system was established by using the Lagrange multipliers with the minimum investment of air-cooled tower as an optimization objective function
comprehensively considering the heat dissipation load
tower structure and air cooling heat dissipation area. The result shows that
the losses due to viscosity and separation are closely related to the tower configuration
the type selection scheme for the air-cooled tower corresponding to the minimum investment cost is reducing the size of the tower and increasing the heating surface area of the heat exchanger. The analysis can provide references for the indirect air-cooled tower design.
