Experiment on Regeneration of Activated Carbon Saturated with Dibutyl Phthalate by Non-thermal Plasma
To research the regenerative process of the activated carbon adsorbing organics by discharge plasma
due to the fact that non-thermal plasma could efficiently produce oxidative active particles
we explored the regeneration of granular activated carbon(GAC) saturated with dibutyl phthalate(DBP) by high frequency dielectric barrier discharge(DBD) plasma. Moreover
we investigated the influences of discharge parameters(such as voltage
frequency
discharge space)
reaction time
water content
and quantity of GAC
on regeneration. The results show that moderately increasing the voltage or frequency and water content are in favor of regeneration effect. On the contrary
excessively increasing the voltage or frequency and dry state will depress the regeneration effect. In conditions of system voltage 10 k V
frequency 10 k Hz
the discharge space 10 mm
the regeneration rate can exceed 80% for 2 g GAC with 45% water content. After 3 times regenerated
the burn-off degree is less than 5%
and the regeneration rate is more than 70%
respectively. The number of activity particles
GAC pore collapse degree
active particles(such as O3
et al.) by thermal decomposition are important factors for the regeneration rate.
