Law of Sever Conditions of Non-uniform Ice-shedding Jumping of Transmission Lines
Ice-shedding will cause conductor to jump up and down significantly
which may result in electrical and mechanical accidents. We established a multi-span 3 degree-of-freedom(3 DOF) dynamic model for conductor
and researched casual non-uniform ice-shedding jumping in detail. By numerical calculation
laws of casual non-uniform ice-shedding once
twice and three times were analyzed. The conclusions can be drawn as follows: the largest jump height of casual non-uniform ice-shedding is not always positioned at the middle of the span
where the ice-shedding happens; serious jumping occurs when the ice-shedding segment is located between 0.35
0
.75 of the span; on the condition of settled ice-shedding amount
larger ice-shedding rate leads to greater jump heights; in the case of settled ice-shedding amount and two or more ice-shedding segments conc
erned
close segments bring larger jump height than separate segments; when the ice-shedding amount is settled
monolithic position of ice-shedding segments has stronger influence on jump height than the number of ice-shedding segments. Besides
the results of non-uniform ice-shedding and uniform ice-shedding are compared
demonstrating that non-uniform ice-shedding jumps with larger magnitude than uniform ice-shedding.Accordingly
casual non-uniform ice-shedding situation should be taken into account when overhead transmission line is designed.
