Electromagnetic Unified Power Flow Controller and Its Application in the Power Flow Control of Loop Network Power Grid
The "SEN" Transformer(ST) is the most powerful electromagnetic unified power flow controller; however
in order to achieve more flexible power flow regulation capability than ST
we proposed a new type of topology electromagnetic unified power flow controller(EUPFC). Firstly
we introduced the operation status of the ring network of Guangdong Power Grid
proposed the topology and working principle of EUPFC
and studied the independent and flexible working mode of EUPFC to the active and reactive power flow of the line. Then
we used the MATLAB/Simulink modeling method to compare and analyze the power flow regulation capability of EUPFC and ST applied to the 220 kV ring transmission network of Guangdong Power Grid. The results show that the improvement effect of EUPFC on the load ratio of the ring network increases by more than 9%over that of ST
meanwhile
the transmission limit of the line is increased by more than 8%
so the power flow regulation ability of EUPFC is stronger. Finally
a test platform was built and 10 kV prototype was developed and tested. The experiments prove that the reactive power flow regulation range of EUPFC increases by 30% compared to ST. Simulation experiments demonstrate the correctness of the proposed topology and the effectiveness of power flow control.
