UHV(ultra-high voltage) DC(direct current) wall bushing is a kind of horizontally installed cantilever equipment which makes it vulnerable during earthquake motions. In order to reduce its seismic responses
a damping device consisting of friction dampers was installed
and the shaking table test on the wall bushing with the damping device was carried out. The dynamic characteristics were acquired by white noise excitation. The seismic responses of the key position in the wall bushing were obtained under artificial input ground motion. The results reveal that the maximum displacement of wall bushing with the damping device is 123.91 mm
among which the displacement caused by the rocking effects of installation plate is up to 1/6. The safety factor of maximum stress at the bottom cross section of the wall bushing can satisfy the seismic requirements. The results indicate that the wall bushing with the damping device meets the seismic requirements
