Abstract
The oscillatory wave voltage method is widely studied and applied in detection of partial discharge(PD).However
due to the difficulty in extracting and matching PD pulses accurately
the location results are incorrect in some cases. To solve the problem
firstly
a method which combines empirical mode decomposition(EMD) and Teager energy operator is proposed to segment PD pulses was proposed in this paper. Afterwards
the dynamic time warping(DTW) algorithm was used to calculate the similarity between pulses
and the incident and reflecting pulses were matched by combining with some other constraints. The discharges were located eventually under the principle of time domain reflectometry. The method based on EMD and DTW algorithm was evaluated in a field test. The results demonstrate that PD pulses are segmented and matched accurately
and the location results achieve accuracy up to 81% with relative error less than 0.01. The method proposed in this paper can be adopted to locate the PD discharges with high accuracy under high precision
providing a new solution for PD location under oscillatory wave voltage conditions.
