Influence of Anchor Damage on Structure Layer of 500 kV Submarine Power Cables
Anchor damage is the main risk factor for the safety and stability of the operation of submarine cables. In order to analyze the influence of anchor damage on the mechanical and electrical properties of high-voltage submarine cables
it is necessary to carry out finite element calculation for the deformation of structure layer and electric field distribution of insulation layer of submarine power cable. Therefore
we established an anchor damage finite element model of 500 kV AC XLPE-insulated copper-wire-armored submarine power cable for the first time
and obtained the stress and strain distribution of each structure layer of the cable after the anchor damage by using the nonlinear dynamic algorithm. Moreover
we emphatically analyzed the strain distribution of the insulation layer section at the position directly affected by anchor damage. According to the insulation deformation after anchor damage
the finite element model of insulation electric field with different compressibility was established
and the distribution data of insulation electric field with different compressibility was solved. The relation equation between the insulation electric field and the compressibility was obtained by least square fitting. The results show that the two types of anchor damages
namely
anchor drop and anchor drag
have basically the same effects on the cable deformation
and they both lead to elliptical deformation of the insulation
which leads to the local increase of the electric field strength. The variation of electric field is exponentially related to the compressibility of the insulating layer. The results can provide theoretical and data references for the cable anchor fault evaluation.
