Abstract: With the rapid increase of new energy projects such as offshore wind power, the application requirements of subsea cables are increasing. Since the subsea cables run below the seabed,environmental pollution will cause serious consequences. This paper analyses the whole life cycle of subsea cable from design, manufacture, construction to operation and retirement, the possible existence of environmental problems, including environmental protection, ecological damage in the process of subsea cable design,selection,raw material procurement,production,manufacturing processes, installation, operation, maintenance and recycling. Finally, some suggestions for environmental protection improvement are put forward.
