Abstract
With the continuous increase in the penetration rate of new energy generation, the issue of frequency stability is becoming increasingly prominent. Virtual synchronous generators (VSG) control that can provide virtual inertia support has become the focus of attention. This article provides a comprehensive quantitative analysis of the inertia support capability of direct drive turbines under VSG control. First, explain the principle of inertia support for direct drive turbines under VSG control. Secondly, a definition method of equivalent inertia coefficient based on the relationship between grid-connected power and frequency is selected through comparison to describe the inertia support capacity accurately. Subsequently, based on considering the droop characteristics, the equivalent inertia constant is derived from the equivalent inertia coefficient and used as the basis to quantitatively analyze the inertia support capacity of the two VSG controls. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method was verified through simulation experiments.
