Abstract
Standardization of the harmonic management is an important link to ensure the power quality and the stable operation of the power grid. With the development of power grid and the changes of power load characteristics, the harmonic standards need to be updated and revised. The Engineering Recommendation G5 of Electricity Association had a great influence on the formulation of our China's standards. This paper introduces the new version of G5/5 engineering guideline issued in 2020, namely "Harmonic voltage distortion and the connection of harmonic sources and/or resonant plant to transmission systems and distribution networks in the United Kingdom". It emphatically analyzes the three-stage access evaluation process of nonlinear equipment and resonant plant, and discusses the changing trend of the two version standards in detail by comparing with the G5/4 guideline. It is hoped that the research content in this paper will provide a new method for the evaluation of non-linear equipment and resonant plant access and introduce a new idea for the revision of the national standards.
