Abstract
The rapid development of ac and dc power grid has put forward higher requirements for the accuracy of simulation. The load characteristics must be accurately simulated in order to correctly reflect the fault response of AC and DC system. By far limited in the abilities of simulation tools, the induction motor model is seldom used in large scale electromagnetic transient simulation, leading to the simulation accuracy problem. The new generation of digital-analog hybrid real-time simulation platform has much powerful simulation capability, which makes the use of large scale induction motor models for real-time simulation possible. Based on the new platform, a simplified method for large-scale induction motor of real-time simulation under the new conditions is studied, and the problem of starting and initializing of the induction motors model is solved. The accuracy and effectiveness of the load characteristic simulation method was verified by the real fault simulation comparison in East China power grid in this paper, and a more accurate simulation method for the further research issues on the interaction characteristics between ac and dc systems of large-scale power grid is given.
