Research on Strategies of Real-time Dispatching and Protection of Active Distribution Network

  • Abstract: According to the characteristic of distributed generation, Gas Turbine Generator or Fuel Cell could operate at V/F mode; Lead Acid Batteries could operate at P/Q mode; Photovoltaic and Wind Power Generation could operate at MPPT mode. The real-time dispatching strategies of distributed generation will be set to maintain the normal operation of Active Distribution Network and maximize the use of renewable energy. The multi-level protection system with centralized differential protection as main protection, multi-stage over-current protection and distributed power body protection as backup protection is set to isolate fault point quickly and reduce the power failure scope. Appropriate action sequence is indispensable for coordination among various kinds of relay protections. The structure of dispatching and protection system of Active Distribution Network consists of three layers: the centralized monitoring layer, the optical fiber network layer and the terminal nodes layer. The structure of centralized monitoring master system will meet the requirements for reliability and efficiency of Active Distribution Network.
