Abstract:
The power consumption intensity can be interpreted as a ‘price’ in the field of energy consumption for the acquisition of GDP, so this paper introduces the method of Nonlinear Hedonic Index into the evaluation of the power consumption intensity, while introducing Bilateral Box-Cox Transform to strictly follow the conditions such as linearity, independence, homogeneity and normality. Taking the power consumption intensity of China in 2015-2016 as an example, this paper calculates the Hedonic Index of power consumption intensity, points out the key influencing factors of the change of power consumption intensity. After comparison, it is pointed out that the traditional Divisia Decomposition Approach concerns less characteristic variables and does not fully reflect the heterogeneity of different economies, therefore, underestimates the role of characteristic variables. The correctness of Hedonic Index's application in this field is verified in this paper.
