Abstract:
In order to study the ability of 10kV multi-short- gaps arrester to cutting off the power frequency follow current after lightning over-voltage breakdown under the polluted condition, the pollution tests have been carried out, and the influence of the filth solution on the repeated breakdown discharge has been also tested in this paper. Results show that the arrester can cut off the power frequency follow current at zero crossing under different pollution levels, and the arc does not occur any more. The repeated combined tests of impulse and power frequency show that the contamination has little effect on the power frequency cutting off capacity of the arrester, and the arrester has a certain self clean ability. Therefore, the 10kV multi-short-gaps arrester can operate effectively and correctly to achieve the lighting protection function under different abominable natural conditions.
